Kerala Government Medical College Teachers Association

KGMCTA is the association of doctors working in the Government Medical Colleges of Kerala, India. The Association was started by Dr.J.S.Satyadas at Kottayam in 1968. The Association is a platform for all its members to express their views and grievances and is in the forefront for protecting the interests of its members. It reiterates its commitment to improve public health and medical education standards in the state.

44th State Conference and Annual General Body

The 44th State Conference and Annual General Body of the Association was held on 25th May 2014 at Medical College, Kottayam. Sri. V.S. Sivakumar, Hon. Minister for Health & Family Welfare, inaugurated the function.

Sri. Suresh Kurup, MLA and Office bearers of IMA, KGMOA and KGIMOA expressed felicitations. The Newsletter of KGMCTA - KGMCTA News was released by Dr. Ramla Beevi, Principal, Medical College, Thrissur.


The academic programme included the Dr.J.S.Sathyadas memorial Oration by Dr. Sreelatha, Head of the Department of Nephrology, Medical College, Calicut on the topic "Hypertension & salt". She was presented with the Dr. Sathyadas memorial award by Hon. Health Minister.

Dr. George Taliat award for the best unit of KGMCTA was presented to the Calicut unit by Hon. Health Minister. The Annual General Body was held in the fore noon.

As Government is going forward with starting of new colleges, association should present a roadmap for upscaling the status of existing colleges. Stand alone status/autonomy should be the core of such
